Betty Barbs™ was established in 2014. The line is designed with a bold, contemporary, minimal aesthetic. Betty Barbs™ was founded by Kristin Elizabeth Barbaree. Kristin named the brand for half of her middle name and half of her last name.
Kristin attended OCAD University for her BFA, and then went on to complete a 3 year advanced diploma at George Brown College in Jewellery Arts.
"I started Betty Barbs™ when I was attending goldsmithing school. The projects in school had such strict guidelines, and Betty Barbs™ was a reaction to that. I just wanted to play and experiment. Design doesn't have to be so structured. I went to jewellery school with the objective to start my own fashion jewellery line, and that is what I have done."
Betty Barbs™ has been featured in Nylon Magazine, The Impression Magazine, and Cosmopolitan Magazine to name a few. The line is designed and made in Toronto, Canada at Betty Barbs™ Studios on Bathurst Street.
